We had a great stay at Cecilia's hostel. She was very welcoming and offered great deals on bike rentals. The kitchen facilities were excellent and everything was kept very clean. Although there were no lockers in the shared room, we were lucky to have it to ourselves during our stay. If you're looking for a quiet place to stay and enjoy cooking your own meals, I highly recommend this hostel.
Felt snug, nothing to complain about.

Our stay at Hostal Cecilia was amazing! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with a warm welcome and made to feel right at home. The staff went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and even made us a soothing tea when I wasn't feeling well. The room and bathroom were immaculate, providing a clean and comfortable space to relax in.
There were a few minor inconveniences during our stay. The location was a bit far from the main stores and restaurants, but considering the affordable price, it was still a great option.

the bungalow was absolutely gorgeous, with a private and quiet atmosphere right next to the beach. the sound of the waves at night was so soothing. the terrace with hammocks was a perfect spot to relax and the well-equipped kitchen made it convenient for us to cook. the room was clean and had a comfortable bed with mosquito nets. the owner was awesome and understanding, especially when we had a bank card issue upon arrival. We were surrounded by wildlife and even spotted scarlet macaws and sloths nearby. the overall experience made us wish we could live in Costa Rica!
Hard to think of anything 🤔.

our recent stay in puerto viejo de talamanca was amazing, but staying at hostal cecilia made it even better. the friendly and welcoming atmosphere, comfortable rooms, and cecilia's delicious coffee in the morning truly made us feel like part of the family. the $5 bike rentals were a bonus too!

I gotta say, the value for money at this place is unbeatable. The room was clean, cozy, and had everything I needed, including a fridge and a TV with cable. The family who runs the hostel were super friendly and went out of their way to help me with anything I needed, whether it was calling a taxi or giving me information about bus schedules. The location was great too, just a short 10-minute walk from town. Oh, and did I mention the adorable dogs and the hilarious cat with squinting eyes?
The only thing that could've made my stay even better was if they had a more varied breakfast. Don't get me wrong, the morning meal was decent, but some more options would've been nice.

Cecilia treated us like family, making our stay feel warm and welcoming. William was professional and flexible. The clean and well-located accommodation had a nice and bright room. We loved the proximity to Cocles beach. Free morning coffee was a great touch, along with the ample kitchen facilities. The owner, although drunk, seemed friendly. The room had a new TV, and we appreciated not having to pay extra for our 2-year-old daughter. The hostel provided bikes in great condition for just $5 a day.

The noise from other guests can be a bit disturbing at times.

The location was ideal, just a short walk from the busy center and right across from the beach. The owners went above and beyond to help us when we had a bike accident. The staff was friendly, always providing helpful tips for day trips and setting up tours. Highly recommended!
The food for breakfast could have been better.

I had a wonderful stay at this hostel in Puerto Viejo. I only planned for one night, but ended up staying for six. The rooms had a kitchen, a nice TV, clean bathrooms, and comfy beds. The staff, especially Cecilia, were incredibly friendly and helpful. They even gave us a better room and provided us with cooking facilities. The location was perfect, just a short walk from the town center but in a quiet area. an excellent value for money option with great amenities and a welcoming host.
Would be happy to recommend this hotel.

The location was great, situated away from the main town and close to Cocles beach, which I could easily reach by bike or on foot. the free coffee in the morning was a pleasant touch that I appreciated.
On certain nights, I found it difficult to sleep due to the loud music coming from the nearby bars. the rooms with shared bathrooms were quite basic, but I understand that this matched the affordable price.
